#Hiking Club

Hiking Club

Hike the great outdoors with us....

The TP Hiking club will begin our 4th season in May 2015.  We will hike one Saturday a month (May – Oct.) with all hikes beginning at 9am and finishing by 12pm. Training hikes that everyone can do between our group hikes is also provided each week. They will be posted on the club’s private Facebook page.

If you would like to carpool or to follow us we will meet in the Training Partners parking lot at 8:30am. We will provide water, light snacks and carry a first aid kit.

In the meantime, details of past hikes are below if you want to give one of them a try.

  • Mountains to Sea Trail – we are hiking a short section of the Mountains to Sea trail. This is an in and out hike from Craven Gap to Bull Gap and back. Distance is just less than 4 miles. Terrain is somewhat up and down with a lot of level. One short sketchy spot on some rocks but very doable. From north Asheville take Beaverdam Rd to Webb Cove Rd. Follow Webb Cove to the top where it joins with Town Mountain Rd and the Parkway. Parking is on the left. We will meet there at 9 am or at 8:30 am at Training Partners to carpool. We will be finished before noon. This is a beautiful hike with lots of wildflowers in bloom.
  • Dupont State Forest Waterfalls – on this hike, you’ll visit up to 5 of the 6 major waterfalls in Dupont State Forest. It starts as an easy path to some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the area: Hooker, Triple, and High Falls. If the group decides to continue to Grassy Creek and Bridal Veil Falls, this will become a moderate hike. You’ll cross the big covered bridge and pass a beautiful mountain lake on the way – well worth the extra effort! Learn More
  • East Ridge Trail – 5.0 miles easy to moderate trail that follows the ridge up and over Lookout Mtn. Boggs Bunion, Brushy Mtn., and Rocky Head and ends at Long Gap. There are a few steep sections and several good views to the east and west. The East Ridge is part of the Blue Ridge from Boggs Bunion north. • Looking Glass Rock will be the season’s final hike. If you haven’t been there you definitely don’t want to miss it. It’s a fun, beautiful 6 mile out and back to the top of Looking Glass Rock for some AWESOME views of the Pisgah Ridge. This not to be missed hike involves some steady uphill switchbacks but is well worth the effort for the amazing views and fall color.

You don’t have to be a TP member or exercise with us; you can workout at another gym or not even belong to a gym. We live in a fabulous place for hiking and just hope you can join us for a hike or for all of our hikes. You’ll have FUN, meet some new people and get a little exercise too! A fun and perfect day!
