Pegge Dixon

I believe that exercise should be fun and shouldn’t be called “working out”. The word “work” can denote a negative connotation for those who don’t really enjoy exercising. If it’s not fun, you won’t do it! You have to be able to laugh at yourself and just get active by doing things you enjoy; walking (with your dog or a friend), gardening, dancing, riding a bike or horse, hiking or lifting weights. Don’t take yourself seriously; simply get moving. The more you move, the better you will feel, both mentally and physically.

I ENJOY HELPING PEOPLE IMPROVE THEIR LIVES BY HELPING THEM BE ABLE TO DO THE THINGS THAT THEY ENJOY; BE IT THE ABILITY TO LIFT THEIR GRAND KIDS, RUN, WALK, LOSE WEIGHT OR JUST FEEL BETTER ABOUT THEMSELVES.

My clients range in age from 30-92 and many come to see me in order to manage pain or recover from a specific injury. I have had clients with scoliosis, neuropathy, arthritis, herniated discs, bursitis, and other chronic pain and issues that are interfering with their optimal quality of life. I also have clients who are looking to build strength, train for athletic performance, lose weight, or to just move and feel good, and I love working with all of them!

MY “WHY”

I love working with people and there is no greater reward then seeing the smile on their faces when they master a new skill.  You never know what you’re capable of until you try!

things i like to do

My first love is animals, primarily horses.  I have been riding them my entire life and studied Horsemanship in college while completing my BA. I currently have 3 horses, 3 dogs, 2 cats and 7 chickens. The chickens are the only ones who earn their keep on my small hobby farm; more formally known as “Peg’s little slice of heaven.” I have also worked for several local veterinarians where I learned a great deal.  All my friends tell me I should have been a vet.

I am also an ardent Tarheels fan; really to the point of being obnoxious. I love sports and appreciate the immense hours of training athletes commit to in order to excel in their sport.

EXPERIENCE

I became a group fitness instructor over 10 years ago when a strength class instructor left and talked me into teaching the class. I guess the bug bit me because I then started teaching the senior strength class at Training Partners.  Peggy and Charlene then convinced me I needed to become a personal trainer. I became an ACE certified Personal Trainer so now I get to work with clients one-on-one each week.  I really enjoy seeing them improve their balance, strength and self-confidence.

“What I love about Pegge is we get to laugh a lot, which makes the time go fast. It always feels like I’ve just connected with an old friend when I come to class.”

– Dershie McDevitt

“Even though I have not been able to attend Pegge’s classes for the last two months due to health reasons, I anticipate the day I can return.  Pegge had been my strength teacher for several years before she took a leave of absence.  I thoroughly enjoy her classes as she not only is a knowledgeable teacher, but she makes exercising fun.  Her enthusiasm and personality are one of her real pluses. Above all she gets to know her clients and her care for them is exemplified. She has shown me so much love and concern throughout these challenging health issues, this I will never forget.  So very happy that she is back at Training Partners.  Don’t ever leave again!

- Dottie Sherrill

“Peg is an amazing instructor.  She entertains us the whole hour!  Her balancing segment is great, and I do feel a lot more confident when walking.  Grateful to continue with her via Zoom during the winter months.”

– Daisy L.

“What a delight to have a class with Pegge again.  She is a good instructor as well as a entertainer.  She makes exercising fun.”

– Neysa H.
